A Celebration of Collaboration

With the ups and downs of 2020, we at Spotlight Joinery have decided to celebrate all the inspiring and exciting projects this year has brought us. We have worked with some remarkable professionals within the industry – allowing us to focus more on the positives of this year. For this, we are sincerely grateful.

The year started with some international projects – a new avenue for Spotlight Joinery. In collaboration with M-Design and one of our partner companies, Craft furniture – our projects were as far afield as Nigeria and Seychelles. We were tasked with kitchens, vanities, wardrobes as well as other joinery elements in order to complete the entire house – it is always special to watch a home come together from start to finish. We are now equipped and experienced in shipping around the African continent, putting us in an exciting position for 2021.

With that being said, we have some phenomenal local joinery projects on the go in Cape Town and surrounds. One of them is Leeukoppie – a Bomax Architect’s vision brought to life by Base Projects. This home is in the heart of Llandudno with incredible ocean views and is scheduled for completion in 2021. The client has imported scratched veneer from Belgium for the annex passage which is a complexly unique feature of the home. The kitchen features Monet marble from WOMAG, along with spray colours which emphasises the green tones within the marble and is a balanced contrast from the steel worktops and splashbacks.

Another project is Rapollo, a luxury apartment in Seapoint on the beach front. Although the space is fairly limited, Etienne Hanekom produced brilliant designs to optimise all spaced used. There is timber cladding throughout the apartment, which gives a wonderful warm and hearty feeling throughout the space. Another famous feature is the stone feature of the kitchen island.

Vergenoed is a beautiful wine farm in Stellenbosch and Spotlight Joinery worked closely with Connect Architects as well as CS Property to bring this family home to life. The joinery is simple, modern and classic with clean lines and minimalist features. The clients requested local timber to be used in the house so Connect Architects brought in various yellow wood elements into the joinery. This was complimented by the row of yellow wood trees on the estate’s driveway.

These are just a few off many mind-blowing projects 2020 brought us. Spotlight Joinery has collaborated with other industry professionals such as Wright Architects, Peerutin Architects, DNL Construction, Hot Cocoa Interiors and many more. Over the course of 2020, we have seen the Spotlight Joinery team grow – with more designers as well as client experience consultants. We now have an office manager too, who manages all in-house processes. Watching our team grow has been extremely humbling over such a strange time and we are excited to see what the future holds.

2020 has proved the importance and benefit of collaboration, which has played a major part in Spotlight Joinery’s successes over this year. We look forward to more wonderful projects to come, along with working  with some of the best professionals in the business. A sincere thank you to all our clients, our dedicated staff and our suppliers for making 2020 a year of growth and advancement.
