Made in Cape Town and installed on the serene shores of the African Island Mahe, Seychelles, this home is the epitome of elegance. With expansive views and a design overlooking the azure blue waters of Seychelles, the home is the ultimate depiction of luxury island living.
The home was designed by local architect Justin Raath whom we worked closely with. The home was designed for a family and geared for entertainment. Architecturally, the home was nothing short of excellence. With notable features such as a deck that lowered lowers to become a base for the pool below. Another being a super car display garage with a large glass panel that lowered lowers to reveal the vehicles. The interiors of the house are equally impressive, taking a refined and minimalistic approach that celebrates the beauty of timber.
The project scope was extensive, encompassing everything from the kitchen and scullery to the bedrooms, dining rooms, and custom joinery, as well as furniture by Craft Furniture. Every element of the design was carefully considered to ensure cohesion and consistency throughout the home.
We took on the challenge of sourcing 180 teak railway sleepers for the project. Some of the sleepers were machined to look as modern as possible, while others were left natural. For the outdoor bar area, we paired the teak sleepers with chains to give it a more rustic look and feel. Other elements of the project were done in oak and veneers, with all substrates specced up to accommodate the humid climate of the island.
The most challenging and rewarding aspect of this project was managing the island site from the middle of Cape Town. To ensure a premium client experience, one of our head designers and project manager, Natalie Williamson, visited the site to meet with the clients and take measurements. She then travelled back to Cape Town to begin the design process – and as usual, she excelled.
The interiors were crafted and mocked up in our factory to provide the client with a comprehensive view of the final product before being packaged and transported to Seychelles. Once on site, our team of experienced installers spent four weeks meticulously installing each element of the project.
